Obituary

Anthony Ray Sowers (Ray Ray, Milkman, Tone Loc, Toni T.) departed this life on Tuesday, July 7, 2020, at the James Cancer Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. He was born on November 25, 1966 to the union of Robert Elbert Sowers and Rita Diana Sowers (Tabler) at Good Samaritan Hospital in Zanesville, Ohio. Anthony spent his early childhood in Zanesville residing with his father and stepmother, Robert and Lauretta Sowers. In his teenage years, he moved to Columbus to live with his birth mother, Rita. Columbus remained Anthony’s home until he took ill—at this time, he returned to his hometown of Zanesville to recover. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his battle with cancer after a courageous fight.
Anthony was known for being extremely rambunctious in childhood and early adulthood. From an early age, he had an unbridled love of animals, especially dogs. This love continued into adulthood. He enjoyed training his beloved pit bulls to do unbelievable tricks like climbing trees and pulling large objects. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing. Buying and detailing old school cars was also a passion of Anthony’s. He loved watching the game of football and was an avid Pittsburg Steelers fan.
Anthony is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Robert and Laura Sowers; maternal grandparents, Clarence and Mary Cunningham; mother, Rita Sowers (Tabler); stepmother, Lauretta Sowers; and his son, Anthony Sowers II.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his father, Robert Sowers; siblings, La-Tonya Sowers, Robert (Bobby) Sowers, Shawn Sowers, Shannon Sowers, Dakeyla Sowers, Naquita Sowers, and Keysha Sowers; step-brothers, David (Lorie) Mayle and Chris Mayle; his children, Anthony Sowers, Tanisha Stewart, Tequisiana Flowe; and his grandchildren. Anthony is also survived by a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews, nieces, and loved ones including his soul mate, Kezia Robinson.

The family will be holding a memorial service on Saturday July 25, 2020 from 11:00am – 1:00pm. A cookout will follow at 1:00pm. A covered dish is welcomed, but not mandatory. The theme is black and yellow to represent Anthony’s cherished Pittsburgh Steelers. Please feel free to bring your fishing pole as the park has a lake for fishing. Dress comfortably.

I remember that Christmas you took me and fat boy to get shoes at East land mall. One of my favorite memories because I had spent so much time practicing Allen Iverson's crossover’s in my basement, that I wanted the shoes to play and compete in on the court. You came through pops. Rest peacefully.
