Obituary for Tilvon Lea "Toy" Mitchell (Edwards)

Tilvon “Toy” Edwards Mitchell was born September 1, 1956 in Columbus, Ohio to the union of the late Clanton L. and Odessa L. Edwards. On Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Grant Medical Center Columbus, Ohio, she quietly went home to be with the Lord. Toy graduated from South High School and attended college at The Ohio State University where she pledged to the Alpha Angles. She accepted Christ into her life at an early age and was baptized and united with the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorate of the late Pastor R. T. Gleaves and his successor, Dr. G. Thomas Turner, Sr. She remained a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church for many years. In her early years she was a member of the Young Adult Choir. Her favorite scripture was Psalm 27. Toy was employed by Nationwide Insurance Company/Palmetto GPA for over thirty years.
On July 29, 1979 she was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Meredith M. Mitchell. Toy is preceded in death by her parents Clanton L. and Odessa L. Edwards; brothers-in-law, Gary Davis, John Davis; aunts, Testure Berry and Louvenia Jackson; uncles, James Jackson and Enoch Edwards; cousin, George Thornhill. She leaves precious memories to her husband, Meredith; Father & Mother-n-law Herbert and Medrith Mitchell; devoted sister, Connie A. Edwards; brothers, Clanton L. Edwards III and Carlton L. (Carla) Edwards; brother-in-law, Herbert (April) Mitchell Jr.; sisters-in-law, Jayne (Daniel) Marshall, Kathy Davis, Ethel Davis, Evelyn (Robert) Dement; nieces, Brittani and Whittani Edwards, Ashton and Amber Grigley; nephew, Robert E. Watkins II; great-nephew Robert E. Watkins III and great-niece, Taylor M. Watkins; uncle, Linwood Berry; aunt, Mary Edwards, and a host of cousins, additional nieces and nephews too numerous to name, including close cousin Martha Thornhill, close friends Tonya Elder and Robin Jones, many other friends and The Friendship Missionary Baptist Church Family.
