Obituary for Yvonne Avis Harris

Yvonne A Harris December 4th 1962-March 15th 2021

Yvonne Harris of Reynoldsburg, Ohio passed away peacefully at Hospice of Central Ohio at The Ohio State University. During her time in hospice care she was surrounded by her family and closest friends. Yvonne was born on December 4th 1962 in Steubenville, Ohio the 6th child of Virginia Lillie-Harris and Moses S Harris. While in Steubenville Yvonne grew up on Linden Avenue and was a big Pittsburgh Steelers fan all of her life.
In the mid-1970s the family moved to Columbus, Ohio where Yvonne attended school at Linden McKinley High. In high School Yvonne really started to enjoy fashion and jewelry and perfected her skills as a sharp dresser. Yvonne also grew into her Christianity more while attending Rhema Christian Center where she served on many ministries including music where she and a couple of friends created a Christian rap group. One of her favorite groups was The Winans.
As Yvonne grew older her love of fashion and styling also grew and she caught the attention of a local representative who worked for Mary Kay who convinced her to do some light modeling at her make up presentations. Yvonne loved it and was great in front of a camera.
Yvonne had a fondness for disease research and loved microbiology and decided to go back to school in 1994. In 1997 she earned an Associate Degree of Appliance Science in Nursing Technology. After becoming a nurse Yvonne decided to work with Ohio Sickle Cell and Health Association and was committed to outreach work. Being an advocate for patients suffering from sickle cell disease was a passion of hers for many years. Yvonne loved and adored her two children and granddaughter; they were her pride and joy. Yvonne was also extremely close to all of her brothers and hosted family parties especially during football season and holidays.
Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents, Moses and Virginia Lillie-Harris, brothers; Moses Christopher and Michael Eugene Harris; Maternal and Paternal grandparents.
Yvonne leaves behind to cherish her memory, a son; Kenneth Harris (Natasha) of Gahanna Ohio; A daughter, Sierra (Benjamin) of Reynoldsburg and a Granddaughter; Zahara; three brothers, Derek and Timothy of Columbus Ohio and Dr. Daryl (Targi) Harris of Temple Hill Maryland many nieces and nephews and a host of relatives and friends and to cherish her memory.
