Obituary for WILLIAM EDGAR MITCHELL

Born June 29, 1929 in Jefferson City, TN, Dr. William Edgar Mitchell was the youngest child of William Spencer and Melissa Horton Mitchell. He graduated from Nelson Merry High School and Morristown Normal Industrial College. He was honorably discharged in 1952 from the Army and graduated from Knoxville College with a B.A.in Sociology. He received a Bachelor of Religious Education from Aenon Bible College in 1972, a Master of Divinity from Trinity Lutheran Seminary in 1981, and a Ph.D. from Grace Graduate School and Christian Bible College in 1985.
Dr. Mitchell moved to Troy, NY in 1958 where he met and married Dorothy Jean Venson on July 30, 1961. He was baptized in Jesus’ Name and filled with the Holy Spirit May 5, 1964. Dr. Mitchell was called to the teaching ministry and ordained in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1972.
Dr. Mitchell loved the Lord and was gifted with teaching and a pioneering spirit. He worked at Bethel Full Gospel Church, ministered in Natchez, Mississippi, taught at Aenon Bible College, in the Sunday School Department of the Church of Christ of Apostolic Faith, and served as Asst. Superintendent of the Senior High Department at CCAF. He also served as the Director of the Ohio District Youth Camp and as President of The KF Smith Bible Institute. He retired from the USPS in 1994.
Dr. Mitchell is preceded in death by parents, William Spencer and Melissa Horton Mitchell; Brothers-Franklin Lazelle Horton and James Harold Horton; loving wife Dorothy Jean Mitchell; daughter Kimberly Dickerson; great grandson Jaiveon Dickerson. He is survived by five grandchildren Shazoph Ephraim, William Spencer, Sherief Lamont, Sanceria Annette Maddox (Anthony) and Thomas Darnell Dickerson, Jr.; special nephew Romney Venson; more than twenty great grandchildren; and a host of other family, friends and loved ones.
