Obituary for WILLIAM JAMES BURGE

Deacon William James Burge was born October 24, 1947 in Columbus, Ohio to David Leon Burge and Wilmer Elanor (Joyce) Burge. Shortly after sunrise on May 20, 2021 he transitioned out of this earthly home into the presence of His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
William who was affectionately called “Butch” graduated from Marion Franklin High School in 1965 and in 1966 he married the love of his life, childhood crush, and high school sweetheart Gloria Jean Gore, and they were married 55 years 1 month and 20 days but have loved each other so much longer than that, and this union of love was blessed with two beautiful daughters Ranata and Rachel.
In 1967 William was drafted into the United States Army and sent abroad where he served his country well, building schools and working on the infrastructure across Europe and in Germany . William would often laugh about being drafted to the service with asthma and all the rest of his friends were not drafted to serve. Well, we later realized that this was the Will Of God and helped shape his young adult life.
After returning home from the service his life forever changed when he truly dedicated his life to Jesus Christ. Living a changed life with expectation He was then ordained Deacon Burge in Los Angeles California through the Saint James Pentecostal Churches, Incorporated under the leadership of the late Overseer, Charlotte Gore-Little and the late Bishop Harley Akers. Deacon Burge served faithfully as the head Deacon, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Sunday School Teacher and Bible Study Teacher extraordinaire! In October of 1998 he and his family united with The House Of Refuge For All People under the leadership of His Pastor, Apostle John W. Mills, there he remained as Deacon, Bible Teacher, Trustee, and President of the Missionary until he was called to his heavenly home. Deacon Burge was a graduate of Eastern Bible College and Gospel Lighthouse School of Ministry. Deacon Burge was a gifted man of God and a most humble servant always willing to help others regardless of their circumstances especially those of the household of faith.
Deacon Burge and his wife Elder Burge were inspired by family members pioneering in service provision to deinstitutionalized people with disabilities. Hoping to make a difference in people’s lives they worked together to establish WillGlo Services, Incorporated and Burge Services, Incorporated creating a leadership legacy for their children to build upon.
Deacon Burge has always had a desire to create opportunities and build things as his Great Grandfather David Jackson had done in the early 1900’s.
