Obituary for Vinel Jemima Pryor (Randall)
Vinel Jemina Pryor (Randall) was born on December 6, 1939, and fell aleep August 9, 2022. Having accepted Christ, she is awaiting the return of our living lord and saviour, Jesus Christ. Vinel was born to Rosa Peterkin and Jack Randall in Savanna-la-Mar, Jamaica, the youngest of three children and only daughter. Because she resembled her dad, she was commonly known as "Miss Jack" in Jamaica.
As a young adult she went to England to pursue a nursing degree. While studying there she enjoyed shopping, dancing and socializing with friends. It was in England she met a young man who was in the Air Force by the name of Ralph Pryor. They were married in Maidenhead, England, on September 8, 1962. Ralph was born in Columbus, Ohio, so the newlyweds made the Buckeye State their home, primarily in the Linden area.
Vinel resumed her orthopedics nursing career in Columbus and a snippet of her can be found in the archives of Ebony magazine January 1964 with a picture and caption.
After starting a family, Vinel left nursing and found assembly work wiring PC boards. Many times her friends would find gainful employment through her. She had long lasting friendships with many people especially during her younger days. Vinel retired from Rockwell Automation in 2000 where she had been a Team Lead and also utilized her nursing background to order medical supplies and promote safety and wellness for office equipment.
Vinel was very kind, warm and giving. She would listen and offer advice, ride with you to an appointment for support, fix your glasses, do sewing alterations and pack up food for you to take home in plastic bowls, just to mention a few acts of kindness.
Most importantly she believed in God and the power of prayer.
The matriarch of the Pryor family leaves to cherish her memories husband, Ralph; daughters, Christine "Tina", Carolyn and Sharon; brother, Derrick; grandsons, Terrence, Trent and Cameron; additional family members, Sharon, Charmaine, Helene, Cherry, Don, Greg, Joy, Gigi and other relatives and friends.
