Tommie Lee Stewart was born February 11th 1962 to Barbra Jean Smith and Willie Stewart. He was a caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He transitioned from this life to his eternal resting place on April 26, 2021 at age 59.
Tommie was raised by a village that included his uncle Joseph Woods and aunt Examina. He was also blessed with a loving foster mother who he adored and always spoke highly of. He often reminisced on his time growing up in the Linden area with his cousins who were like brothers to him. Nothing was more important to him than his family- to know him was to be assured of this. After graduating from Linden McKinley, he went on to study martial arts and the great fathers of the Faith (who he would always reference during preaching and conversations). These foundations would later attribute to him becoming a scholar in the Word. Early in life, he became a father to Tameca and Nathaniel Stewart who he constantly doted over and expressed his pride for. In 1997, he began dating the love of his life and in 1999 he married his soulmate, Carolyn. They customized their vows from “til death do us part” to state, “from life to life”. Together they had a blended family of 4 children and spent 24 beautiful years together before he was called home to be with the Lord.
Tommie was an avid worshiper, no matter how he was feeling in his body he never stopped calling on the name of Jesus and thanking him for bringing him through. He never met a stranger and was often stopped and noticed all over town whenever he was on an outing. He was a devout Buckeye fan and lover of all action movies. The latter part of his years was spent at World Conquerors Through Jesus Christ Ministries where he was a pillar and a faithful member of leadership, serving under the direction and counsel of Pastor Theresa Tyus and Co-Pastor John Tyus where he was re-ordained as Elder. He was loved to no end by his church family, who always enjoyed a colorful analogy during a sermon that would often cause smiles and laughter to irrupt throughout the building.
Tommie is proceeded in death by his parents and brother Hosea Walker. Left to carry on his memory are his wife Carolyn, children Tameca ,Nathaniel, Latosha and Matia siblings; Florence *sissy* (James) , Edwina (Raymond) James (Leeora) Neil (Doretha) Robert; grandchildren Lamontica, Lamont, Derricka, Kariem, Natalie, Kymani and Londyn; 18 great grandchildren; and a host of family members, friends and loved ones who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest. He will be greatly missed by all he encountered. For we know this is not good bye .. simply see you later. Congratulations on your race well done.
