Obituary for Theresa Arabella Rosa Henry

Theresa Arabella Rosa Henry transitioned to be with the Lord on December 5, 2020 at the age of 93; surrounded by her loving family.

Theresa was born in Hamilton, Bermuda on January 16, 1927, the fourth of four daughters of Barbara and John Simmons. Upon the death of her mother, when she was very young, Theresa along with her older sisters, Fredericka and Louise were raised by their aunt, Arabella Lee. Theresa married Robert Louis Henry Sr on July 11, 1953. The marriage spanned 67 years and they had seven children, and nine grandchildren.

Theresa received her education in Bermuda at Berkley Institute where she learned domestic science. She would use this education throughout her life. In her younger days, Theresa was an bookkeeper for a gentleman named Mr. Stow at his grain company in Hamilton, Bermuda. She was also a lyric soprano singer in the hotels and clubs throughout Bermuda. Upon marrying her husband, Theresa transitioned her career from bookkeeper and singer to full-time housewife, mother and grandmother. Theresa took full control of the activities within her household. She was up early making sure her husband, children and grandchildren were ready to venture into their day. While all of the family members were out of the house at work and school, Theresa cleaned the house and prepared the dinners. As her children and grandchildren came home from school, Theresa met them and mentored them at the dining room table. She always honored education and made sure school work was completed before anything else was done. After dinner Theresa made sure her family was ready for bed so they could be awake and ready for their next day. Theresa was a seamstress who made many of her own outfits, a huge fan of Bingo, and an excellent cook. After her husband's retirement, Theresa and Robert dabbled in the business world with a company called Bermuda Triangle Catering.

Theresa was a strong believer in Christ; and she was a lifelong Catholic who raised all of her children in the Catholic church. Theresa was also a woman of prayer; praying for her husband and her children every day. Even in her time of dementia she reached out to the Lord singing 'Jesus Loves Me Yes I Know'.

Theresa was preceded in death by her parents Barbara and John Simmons, her sisters Louise Rowling, Florence Browne and Fredericka Richardson, her oldest son Robert Henry Jr., and granddaughter Erica Hall-Henry. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Robert L. Henry, Sr.; her brother in-law George Henry, sister in-law Jean Henry, Cousin Mary Bohannon, Cousin Daisy Nanton; daughters Barbara Henry and Anita Henry; her sons Leroy (Toni) Henry, George (Sherry) Henry, Roger (Delphine) Henry, and Michael Henry; eight grandchildren Michelle (Antonio) Scott, Miles Henry, Brandon Henry, Roger Henry Jr., Justin Henry, Getayia Henry, Gerrod Henry, and Guylan Henry. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends in United States of America, Bermuda, and multiple Caribbean islands.

Theresa was a special woman who had a positive and loving effect on all she met. She will be missed by all who had the honor to know her.
