Obituary for Shirley Ann Carter (Murray)

SHIRLEY ANN CARTER was born in Uhrichsville, Ohio, on Sunday, November 27, 1938. She was the daughter of Charles and Arlean Murray. Shirley was a graduate of Denison High School. Following graduation, she moved to Columbus, Ohio and worked at Fort Hayes. Shirley later gained employment in personnel management at the Defense Construction Supply
Center (DCSC).

Shirley was united in holy matrimony to her true love, John L. Carter. They shared forty-three years together. The couple lived in Hide-A-Way Hills and presently resided at Wesley Ridge in Reynoldsburg, Ohio. Shirley was affectionately known as Shook, Shookie, Grandma, and Grannyma by family and friends. She loved to travel, as well as entertain, listen to good music, interior decorating, cooking, baking, arts and crafts, outdoor living, and painting. However, she most enjoyed spending quality time with her loved ones. Christmas was her favorite holiday. Blessed with eighty-three years of life, our beloved Shirley Ann Carter entered eternal rest on Wednesday, August 3, 2022. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Shirley is survived by her husband, Colonel John L. Carter; children, Kelly Pipkins, Lisa Scott, Stacey Staples, Mike Carter, Rodney (Claudia) Carter, Keith (Francis) Carter, Johnny (Cheryl) Carter, and DreAnn (Kenneth) Long; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, other family members, and dear friends.
