Obituary for Rosie Ann Fowler (Wilson)

A Rose Like No Other!

Rosie Ann Wilson was born on June 22, 1944, in Wills Point, Texas, “Roseann”, as she was affectionately known to her family, was the second born of two children to Lonnie B. and Gladys Wilson. After relocating to Fort Worth, Texas, Roseann accepted Christ into her life at a young age and was baptized at Pilgrim Valley Baptist Church.

Rosie attended Amanda F. McCoy Elementary School and later attended Paul Lawrence Dunbar High School. She was proud to serve as cheerleader captain, Honor Society, Chorus, Annual Staff, News Paper Staff, Vocalist, Leonards Awards, Altrusa Award, Biology Award, Student Council, Secretary Senior Class. Rosie graduated from Dunbar in June 1962.

Raised in loving home, she would soon meet and marry James Alberson at North Texas State University. To this union, they were blessed with two beautiful children, Demitrice “Gigi”, and James, Jr. “Jimmy”.

After relocating to Columbus, Ohio, Rosie joined Mount Herman Baptist Church where she was a faithful deaconess and member of the Matrons and Gospel Choir, prior to beginning to serve as first lady.

Receiving a Bachelor of Business Administration from Franklin University in and a Masters of Business Administration from Dayton University in 1995 while raising a family and working full-time, Rosie was determined to advance her education, work, and raise her family.



Rosie later met and married Shedrick Fowler in December 1985. At first sight, they knew the Lord had brought them together.

Blessed to have worked in Human Resources for Liebert Corporation for over 20 years, the Lord allowed her to leave Liebert to devote full time to her first love, Christ Memorial Missionary Baptist Church.

Rosie has humbly served as first lady of Christ Memorial Missionary Baptist Church since September 1992. From the pen of First Lady Fowler “Always pray to have eyes that see the best in people, a heart that forgives the worst, a mind that forgets the bad a soul that never loses faith in God.”

She worked tirelessly with the Women’s Fellowship Ministry, Matrons, Christian drama productions. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, watching westerns, Bible Study, but most of her loving her family!

First Lady Fowler was one of the sweetest, kindest – a woman of beauty and brilliance. “A Rose Like No Other! First Lady Fowler was called from labor to reward on March 30, 2021.

Rosie is preceded in death by her parents, Lonnie Wilson and Gladys Wilson Reed, five grandchildren, brother James B. Wilson, special cousin Vera Sanders.

Left to cherish her loving memory is her devoted and belaboring husband of 36 years, Reverend Shedrick Fowler, PhD, of Columbus, Ohio, daughter Demitrice “Gigi” Boozer (Astor) of Bowie, Maryland, son James Jr. “Jimmy” (Jessica) of Renton, stepdaughter Djuana Taylor of Newark, Ohio, stepsons Derrick Fowler of Bradenton, Florida; Lamont Fowler of Columbus, Ohio, eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, “big sister” Joanne Tarkington of Fort Worth, Texas, and host of nieces and nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and the Christ Memorial Missionary Baptist Church Family.
