Obituary for RONALD LINCOLN DUNN

RONALD LINCOLN DUNN was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on Wednesday, September 9, 1936, to the union of Erastus and Emily Young. Ronald accepted Christ at an early age and reaffirmed that commitment in 2020. He was educated in the Philadelphia Public School System. After graduating high school, Ronald enlisted in the United States Army. He served from April 1956 to February 1958, receiving an honorable discharge.

Ronald married his longtime girlfriend, Glennis Saunders, in 1959. From this union came five children: Wanda, Tanya, Ronald, Duane, and David. The union ended in 1969.

Ronald moved to Columbus, Ohio in 1969. He held several jobs prior to landing employment with the City of Columbus Water Department, where he retired with thirty plus years of dedicated service. In 1980, Ronald met Mary Butler, the love of his life. They were married in 1990. Ronald loved spending time with his family. He had a great sense of humor. Ronald would have you in tears, holding your stomach, because you were laughing so hard.

Ronald loved cooking and traveling. Known as a serious “foodie,” Ronald tried all types of food including gator, snake, chicken feet, muskrat and the list goes on. Ronald’s last vacation was a road trip cross country, from New York to San Francisco. This adventure was his favorite and he talked for hours about the journey to anyone that would listen. Blessed with eighty-six years of life, our beloved Ronald L. Dunn entered eternal rest on Monday, October 3, 2022. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Dunn; his parents, Erastus and Emily Young; two brothers, Solomon and Richard Dunn; and his grandson, Dejuan Young.

Loving memories are cherished by his five children, Wanda Coffee, Tanya Young-Mobley, Ronald (Vanessa) Young, Duane (Olivia) Young, and David (Kimberly) Young; fifteen grandchildren, Takeasha, Monique, Tanya “Meya,” Ronald “Duke,” India “Ranada,” Richard “Rasheen,” Samuel III, Talena, Eric, Imani, Pepsi, Louis, David, Queen, and Elise; thirty-six great grandchildren; one great-great grandson, Kairo; raised like a daughter, Patricia Devlin; sisters, Barbara (Eddie) Key, Vivian McCann, and Deborah (William) Hicks; brother, Joseph (Faye) Young; sister in law, Joan Dunn; a host of nieces, nephews, other family members, and dear friends.
