Robert Hilton passed away on April 1, 2020 at the age of 87. Robert was born on Monday, February 13, 1933. He was a native of Rose Hill, Mississippi, where he graduated from T-York High School. He later attended The Ohio State University. Robert was a veteran of the United States Army and a veteran of the Korean War.
Robert retired from the Training Institute of Central Ohio and the Columbus Public Schools. After retirement, he enjoyed spending time working with the youth league at Berliner Park. Robert loved to travel, mentoring the youth in his community, and was an avid gardener.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents James and Tommie B. Hilton; brothers Reverend Jacob (Alberta) Hilton, Tommy (Katie) Hilton and Roosevelt (Annie Ruth) Hilton; sisters Rosella (Obbie) McGee and Mary Helen (Ray) Gilbert.
Robert is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Bobbie Jean Hilton; children, Gary (Dorcas) Hilton, Robin Grant and Pamela Hilton; grandchildren, Tierra Hilton, Isaiah Crockett, Ayshea Grant, Elijah Crockett, Christiana Hilton, Jasmine Hilton, and Nia Grant; great-grandchildren, Midas Powell and Majesty Powell; brothers Booker T (Dessie Rae) Hilton and Charles (Daisy) Hilton; sister Faynella (Saunders) Carson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends.
