Obituary for Narvina Haynes
NARVINA " VINA" McAFEE HAYNES died on Friday , June 14, 2019, peacefully at the Pataskala Oaks Care Center, at the age of seventy-eight. Narvina was preceded in death by her parents, Narvis (Logan, McAfee) Grigley and Lawrence C. McAfee and her sister, Joann McAfee.
Narvina is survived by her beloved husband, Roy Haynes Jr. and their two children, Narwanna D. Adams-El Shabazz and Roy (Carol) Haynes III. She is also survived by her sister, Eleanor (Robert) Pettus; brother, Randolph McAfee; granddaughters, Nardja R. A. El-Shabazz, Jihan N. J. El-Shabazz, both of Decatur, Georgia, Ashley Phillips of Pickerington, Ohio; great niece and family, Tamika (Johnny) Berry, Korin Biggers, Loren Berry (also affectionately known as Pooh Pooh), and Jacob Berry; other family members; as well as friends. We also acknowledge her Spiritual family that was a part of her dedicated life to Jehovah God.
Narvina was born on Thursday, January 30, 1941, in Ashville, North Carolina, to Lawrence C. and Narvis McAfee. After moving to Columbus, Ohio, she graduated from North High School in 1959, and sometime later, she went to work at General Motors. Narvina would find out soon that the best was yet to come because she married the love of her life, Roy Haynes, Jr.
