Obituary for Kha’Terra Wimika Griffin

Kha’Terra Wimika Griffin

Kha’Terra, affectionally called “BB,” a much-loved, precocious baby girl, was born on April 26, 2005 to her proud parents, Nichole Rhodes and Terry Griffin in Columbus, Ohio. She was the youngest of the children as we all say, “the baby girl.”
She had a quiet demeanor, extremely reserved, and determined to have her way.

Kha’Terra was very close to her sister Shamira. She loved, idolized and enjoyed spending time with her. Without permission she would sneak and take bus trips to follow her wherever she was. She just wanted to be with and around her sister.

She was attending Mason Run High School. She too loved the beauty industry, hair, nails and makeup were a shopping passion for her. She had an expensive taste and flair for high-end quality clothes. She was proud of her desires to seek and maintain employment at such an early age. She had a strong independent work ethic. With each new job she was so excited she would come home and do a dance in the driveway. While working at Walmart, she surprised and pressed up on her father from behind while saying “excuse me sir you’re under arrest.” Surprised, her father didn’t know she was working at Walmart.

Kha’Terra, like her sister, danced to the beat of her own drum, she was bull headed, stubborn and independent. She did what she felt was necessary to do, right or wrong. She enjoyed her Social Media thang, ordering her Uber eats, watching movies, and listening to music. She loved snuggling with her paternal grandmother, while they talked and listened to music. She loved both grandfather’s cooking and would ask them to prepare her special meals. She loved to go fishing with her paternal grandfather. She was once instructed by her maternal grandmother on how to properly clean the kitchen. During this lesson she was told to wash and dry the dishes, wash the stove in and out, wash the wall behind the stove, wipe down the countertops, wipe off the cupboards, and finish with sweeping and mopping the kitchen floor.

On Sunday, September 18th she enjoyed a wonderful sit-down seafood boil meal with her mother, sister, Shamira; and brother, Shaun. God knew best!

She was preceded in death by her sister, Shamira Rhodes; uncle, Michael Ross; great grandparents, uncles, aunts and cousins.

Kha’Terra departed her shortened life on her father’s birthday, October 15,2022, in Columbus, Ohio. She leaves to mourn her passing her mother and father, her grandparents, Edward & Bobette Naylor-Rhodes, Jo Ann Ross and Terry Griffin; sister, Khadeijah Griffin; brothers, Duwan, and Shaun; nieces, Amaya & Royce; nephews, Amir & Kai; uncles, Michael Journigan (Sonia), Edward Rhodes, Jr. and Kenneth Ross; aunts, Sonya Pennington (Derrick), Brandy Lilly-Rhodes, Batrice and Yavonne Naylor, Judith Lee, Latosha Galloway (Raymond), Monica, JoLynn, & Kisha Ross, Ashlei Hollingsworth, and Tiffany Plummer.

“WE LOVE YOU KHA’TERRA”
