Obituary for KENNETH WADE Jr.

KENNETH WADE JR. was born in Columbus, Ohio, on Monday, February 18, 1974, at St. Ann’s Hospital. He was the son of Kenneth and Robin Wade. Kenneth attended Independence High School. In his preteen years, he played football for the NIAA team in the Maize Road area. He loved sports both football and basketball. His favorite sports teams were The Ohio State University Buckeyes football and basketball. If Kenneth wasn’t wearing his work uniform, he had on his OSU gear. He knew all the players’ stats both college or professional football and basketball. He watched all the games in his down time.

Kenneth was a hard worker. His first job was at Red Lobster in Omaha, Nebraska. Kenneth worked various jobs in his young life from a short order cook, warehouse worker, furniture mover, home healthcare aid, and maintenance worker. Kenneth was a man of many hats.

One of his favorite positions was an Event Facilitator for the State Capital Events Department. There, he met President Barack and Michelle Obama along with their two daughters, Mila and Natasha “Sasha” Obama. He was so excited that he was able to take a picture with them. At that time, Barack was a candidate for President of the United States. That picture was one of his prized possessions. In that same position, Kenneth became friends with many House of Representative politicians and highway patrolmen. Kenneth later gained employment with
Columbus City Schools which he enjoyed and met a lot of nice people.

Kenneth always stayed busy whether keeping his sister’s yard looking nice or mowing family and friends’ yards. He took the time to teach his many nephews and great nephews how to cut the grass properly. If you needed help with anything, you could call Kenneth. He was always willing to help. He would take his Aunt Sherry to and from work when needed; that was their special time together. He was also our family’s barbecue grill master and our holiday turkey fryer. He was an excellent cook.

Our beloved Kenneth entered into eternal rest on Monday, October 17, 2022. He was forty-eight years of age. Kenneth was preceded in death by both paternal grandparents, Asbury and Geneva Wade; his maternal grandparents, Kenneth and Rowena Gaines; and uncles, Kenneth, Steven, and Robert.

Kenneth is survived by his father, Kenneth Wade, Sr.; his mother, Robin (Robert) Wilson; sister, De’Shawn “Deedee”; brothers, Da’Haan and Brandon; stepbrothers, Robert, Earl, and Roberto; stepsister, Jalessa; his aunts, Sherry (Wayne) and Yolanda; uncles, Paul, Karl, and Otis; sixteen nieces and nephews; five great nieces and nephews; his special cousin, Anthony Wade of Los Angeles, California; his dog, Dallas, who he loved dearly; a host of other family members, coworkers, and dear friends. Kenneth will be sorely missed by all.
