Obituary for JOSEPH BELTON CROME

Joseph Crome was born in York, South Carolina, on August 17, 1922, to the late Joseph and Bessie Crome. He left this earthly home on March 12, 2023.

He was joined in holy matrimony to Pauline McGill on February 9, 1950. Joseph and Pauline were blessed with nine loving children, Joann, Theodore, Luther, Theresa, Joyce, Dorothy, Timothy, Daniel and Ann.

He is a distinguished WWII United States Army Veteran and Bronze Star recipient.

He accepted Jesus Christ into his life at an early age. He was ordained to the office of Deacon in 1964, an office in which he served diligently as unto the Lord. He loved to praise and worship the Lord with all his heart. He was a faithful witness to others desiring that all would be saved.

He was highly respected by those who knew him as they could see the light of Christ in him through his quiet, but strong spirit. He served as a role model, instilling strong values and high standards. He was a man of his word, and his word was his bond. If he said it, it was good as done.

He worked as a laborer through the Local Union 423; his last employer being EJ Will and Company where he worked arduously until retirement.

He was called home to eternal rest on Sunday, March 12, 2023. He said he did not want his homegoing to be a day of mourning but of continuous joy with everyone knowing that he would be at rest in his heavenly home with his savior and Lord.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Bessie Crome; sister, Martha Adams; brother, Hazel Crome; son, Luther Crome; daughter, Joann Edwards; mother and father-in-law, Thomas and Luvenia McGill; brothers-in-law, Barnett, AV McGill; Thomas McGill, Jr.; sister-in-law, Margaret Neal; and son-in-law, Willie Alls.
He leaves to forever cherish his memory his loving wife of 73 years, Pauline Crome; sons, Theodore (Regina) Crome; Timothy (Shari) Crome; Daniel (Julie) Crome; daughters, Theresa Crome Alls; Joyce Sutton; Dorothy Crome; Ann (Kevin) Farr; 17 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 10 great, great grandchildren; sisters-in-law Betty (AC) Williams and Lossie Ashe; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men.
