Obituary for Joenita Jane Lynch

Joenita Jane Lynch (Rankin) was born on February 1, 1940 to the late Harry and Edna Rankin (McKamey) in Holden, WV. and attended Aracoma High School in Logan, WV. Joenita’s mother, Edna Rankin (McKamey) passed and Harry was remarried to Elizabeth Martin (Ms. Lizzie) when Joenita was very young. Shortly after their union the Rankin Family moved to Columbus, Ohio where Joenita spent much of her teen aged years in “Fly-Town.” She was one of 11 children and graduated from Central High School. Joenita spent over 30 Years working in Dietary at The Ohio State University and was fortunate to retire from OSU Hospital at the early age of 51. She was very active in her Church and served as a Deaconess, a Faithful Member of the Nurses Corp and the Lenora Young Missionary Circle at Macedonia Baptist Church.

Robert and Joenita Lynch were married on June 20, 1970 and lived an inseparable life. Joenita was a faithful wife for nearly 49 years and a loving mother of three boys, Byron (Keith), Kevin, Kenny and step son Robert Lynch, Jr. Joenita loved her family and loved serving others. Some of her greatest memories involved spending time with her family during family reunions, church activities and being with “Bob and Her Boys.” Joenita lived a simple life that was full of Love, Faith and Joy.

Joenita was preceded in death by her parents Harry and Edna Rankin, Elizabeth Martin (Mrs. Lizzie) Brothers Gilbert (Alice) Rankin, Charles Rankin, James (Naomi) Rankin, Sisters Maxine (Edward) Jones, Harry “Tootsie” (Vacy) Webb and Margaret (Alex) Ramsaw, Step Son Robert Lynch, Jr., Grandson Tyler Keith Rankin. She is survived by her Husband, Robert W. Lynch, her three Sons, Byron "Keith" Rankin (Michelle Tudor), Kevin Hairston, and Kenny Rankin (Deborah Bailey), Sisters Edna Francis Pugh, Connie Haynes, Twin Sister Roenita Hairston and Brother Howard (Sonia) Rankin, Sister-in-Law Eunice Rankin, Grandchildren from Andrea Rankin (Austen, Shaun and Sydney) Shauna Rankin (Chandler, Chase, Colby and Casey) Karlos Lynch and Tenashia Lynch, and a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, Friends and the Barbara Reynolds Family.

Prior to Joenita’s sunset on May 5, 2019 she was cared for dearly by her niece, Vicky White. Vicky was Joenita’s State Certified in home caregiver and assisted our family by ensuring Joenita’s needs were well taken care of. During her stay in the skilled nursing facility at Darby Glenn, Joenita was also cared for by her Niece, Krisden Lynch. Joenita was fortunate to have family love and care for her as she fought to recover from a stroke nearly two years prior. Her Husband, Robert W. Lynch, demonstrated in action what it means to “honor and love thy wife in sickness and in health.”

To all who knew Joenita, it is certain that her sweet, sweet spirit is at rest with our Lord. While she was a fighter, it was clear on Sunday May 5, 2019 that Joenita had finished her race and was ready to be at Peaceful Rest with the Lord. No Doubt in our minds that “It is Well with Her Soul.”
