Obituary for Janet Lee Smith

Janet (Jenny) Lee Smith was born September 20th 1950 to Cora and Richard Preston in Elkhorn, WV. She was called home by God February 5th 2021 at the age of 70. She was a high school graduate and attended East High School in Columbus Ohio. Janet was a retiree of Ohio Bell AT&T after 25 years of dedicated service. Janet is survived by her only child Ebony Smith (Anthony Spears) whom she gave the world and more . She is also a loving super Nana to her grandchildren whom she adored immensely, Kailee, Kingslee, Ky'Saan, Ky'Mir and great grandson JaKai. Five brothers and sisters and a host of many cousins nieces and nephews. She is also survived by several special family members although some were not blood related were there through the roughest times and were loved as genuine family. Listed as follows. Special daughters Misti Matthews, Sheila (SheShe) Evans, Brandi Scott Thornton, Alysia Poole & Shanena Whitlow. Special Grand and great grandchildren: Eleeshia Strong, Marcus Payne Jr., & Kiah Fine. Favorite niece: Kimberly Preston Special friends: Stanley Constant, Dax & Pamela Bastian, Jerrie Walker, J.D Pyle Janet is preceded in death by her parents Cora and Richard Preston. Ex-husband & father of her daughter William C.L. Smith, Ebony's stepfather John Martin. Siblings: Terrence Preston, Deborah Preston, Marguerite (Pat) Thomas. This extensive list is proof that when Janet loved you she remained loyal straightforward and selfless. All that had the privilege of knowing her could count on her outspoken tell it like it is honesty and raw uncensored sense of humor. You could always count on her making you laugh & smile enough for a lifetime. Janet will also be remembered for her fashionista, shop-a-holic, witty personality, passion and love for jewelry and most importantly the unwavering adoration she displayed for her daughter and grandkids. This awesome woman leaves behind nothing except beautiful memories that shall be treasured by anyone blessed to have known her. Her strength never faltered nor did her love. She will be dearly and extremely missed and never forgotten. She will live in our hearts for eternity.
