Our Heavenly Creator in His divine love, mercy, and infinite wisdom has decided to call another of His children home to Heaven. After a short illness, but a long and fruitful life, our beloved James (“Jim”) Nelson Orr left his earthly body for a life of immortality in Heaven on Sunday evening, July 10, 2022. Jim was born on January 21, 1940 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Nellie Ogreta Orr and William E. Orr. Jim was a graduate of East High School and Franklin University. After serving in the United States Navy, he returned to his hometown and began a career at General Motors, where he worked as a Quality
Assurance Engineer. He retired after 28-years. It was at General Motors in 1964 where he met his beloved wife Joyce A. Orr. They were inseparable and celebrated 56-years of marriage last year. Jim was member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church for over 50-years. He served as an usher and was a member of the Senior Choir.

Jim was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. We (his family and friends) will continue to love and respect him, as well as miss him dearly. We are comforted in the assurance that he is in God’s merciful and caring arms. Jim leaves to cherish his memorable life: his devoted wife Joyce A. Orr; children: Joan Y. Gresson (John), Anthony J. Orr, Gregory N. Orr (Christine Sourek), and Derrick A. Thibodeaux (Tierra); Nine grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild: brother: William Ronald Orr (Juanita); nieces: Deanna Orr-Boykin (Wade), Karen C. Toomer; many sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
