Jacquelyn “Jackie” Michelle Carter was born in Lynch, Kentucky on January 5, 1949 and passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 2, 2021.
Jackie was born, unto the union of the late Amos, Jr., and Lula Pearl Melton Jackson. She graduated from Lynch High School in 1967 and shortly thereafter moved to Columbus, Ohio where she married and had two sons. Jackie was a dedicated employee of Grant Medical Center where she maintained a superior performance level in food service preparation for over 40 years. She happily retired in 2011.
A beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many; Jackie had a heart of gold. She had an uncanny ability to touch people in a deep and loving way. Her shy demeanor often was mistaken as being unapproachable but once you got to know her you quickly discovered she had a beautiful spirit inside and out. Jackie lived her life to the fullest through simple pleasures. She enjoyed shopping and her outfits were often complimented with a pair of stylish earrings. She also loved spending time with her sister Charlotte and although she
did not drive, she was a great co-pilot during their routine journeys.
Jackie was preceded in death by her father Amos Jackson, Jr., Lula P. (Jackson) Shaffer, stepfather William Shaffer, son Joe Carter III, brothers Gerald and Amos Jackson.
She is survived by her son James Maurice (Melissa) Carter, sister Charlotte (Howard) Bridges,brother Lamarr (Linda) Jackson, sister-in-law Vergie Jackson, special cousins, Rutland Melton, and Renee Melton. six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
