Obituary for EDWARD CLARK THOMPSON

Edward Clark Thompson was born on March 9, 1934 to the union of Willie Marvin Thompson and Essie (Flemister) Thompson in Columbus, Ohio. He departed this life on November 19, 2022 at home.
Edward attended East High School, where he played the saxophone in the marching band. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1958. While stationed at Ft. Devens, Mass, he was a master mechanic, servicing helicopters.
Eddie loved to cook. He also enjoyed jazz; his favorite genre is known as straight-ahead jazz. Uncle Eddie loved his family. As each of his siblings passed, he cherished the love and uncle relationships he built over the years with each niece and nephew.
Eddie accepted Christ late in his life. As a member of the First Church of God, he attended the weekly Men’s Bible Study and Noon Bible Study. He faithfully served in the Food Pantry. His church family knew him as Uncle Eddie.
Eddie was self-employed for the majority of his life painting and hanging wallpaper. Once his body could no longer go up and down ladders, he started a cleaning service and worked those contracts until retirement.
He is preceded in death by his parents Willie Marvin and Essie Thompson; siblings Wiley Thompson, A. Ruth DeBerry, Marvin Thompson, Jean Matthews, Vivian Gaddis, and William Thompson.
Uncle Eddie is survived by his two daughters, Cynthia Johnson of Columbus, OH, Jolynn (Charles – Rikki) Greene of Columbus, OH, granddaughter, Michelle N. Littleton; nieces and nephews Martha Curry, Jerel (Billy) Steele, Curtis (Judy) Matthews, James DeBerry, Vivian DeBerry, Cheryl Gerst, Alethea Gaddis, Randal (Elizabeth) Gaddis, Sylvia Gaddis, Dionne (Clyde) Howard, Melissa Thompson as well as great and great-great nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends.
