Attorney Edward Yalu Ajamu Parks, 69 of Columbus, Ohio passed away following his journey with end-stage kidney failure for over 11 years and went home to be with the Lord on Monday March 8, 2020.
Attorney Edward Yalu Ajamu Parks was born February 5, 1951 in Thomson, Georgia. He is the son of Roy Lee Parks Sr., 94 years- old (retired military service member) and the late Lue Anna Hatchell Parks. Edward was a highly accomplished and well-known Attorney; graduating from Walter E. Stebbins High School in Dayton, Ohio, then completing his undergraduate studies at Otterbein College in Westerville, Ohio followed by his continued education at the University of Michigan receiving a Master’s Degree in Hospital Administration and finally his Law Degree (J.D.) from Howard University in Washington, D.C. After graduation he started his private practice Law Firm serving in Columbus, Ohio for over 40 years, and ran for Ohio Appeals Court Judge twice.
Edward married Sequoyah Benn Parks in 1975 and they produced two loving daughters Akii-dabe Tomorrow Parks who lives in Charlotte, NC and Alkebu Shiloh Parks who lives in Columbus, OH. Edward also has one beloved grandson, Parker Edward Isaiah Willis who is the light of his life.
Edward Parks was a beloved father, husband, brother and son. Edward was a devoted reader and known for his patience, extremely high intellect and devotion to his children. Edward was a devoted Christian and member of Shiloh Baptist Church for over 30 years. He loved sports (serving as varsity co-captain of his football Team in High School and later in leadership roles of the Church softball Team) and enjoyed keeping up with various sports teams.
Edward was preceded in death by his brother, Roy Lee Parks, Jr. and Mother Lue Anna Hatchell Parks. Edward is survived by sisters, Anna Parks-Carter and husband Arthur F. Carter, M.D., who have two sons, Arthur Carter Jr., PhD, and Andrew Parks Carter and sister, Elaine Parks, who has two children Lee Parks and Tocara Mosley. Edward is also survived by Sequoyah’s sisters Gwyneth (Daniel) Abell and Cherie Hardgrove; and a host of other relatives, friends, and colleagues.
