DERRICK DURRAY DUNN was born Sunday, July 6th , 1980, at 3:30pm in Dayton, Ohio. He is the son of Gregory C. Dunn and Trevilla J. Dunn. Derrick, who was affectionately called “Derk”, and “Fat Guy” was a graduate of Eastmoor High School and attended The University of Cincinnati.
Derrick was very intelligent and gifted in administration and organizational skills. He’s worked at several companies including Hill Manor as an office manager. He was one of the most talented men ever known. Derrick was very passionate and kind and loved each person he ever met. He’s known for his smile and his loving heart of compassion for all.
Derrick was baptized in the name of Jesus at the age of 9, truly understanding what it meant to be baptized and even asked his mother if he could be and after she asked him if he knew what it meant to be baptized and he understood, she gladly welcomed him. Under the teaching and leading of his mother living a Christian lifestyle and faithful believer of God and committed to serving in church, Derrick and Demmion, his loving older brother was right by their mother’s side. Sung in choirs, played piano and drums and loved singing. Praise God!!!!
Derrick was faithful in reading and studying the Word of God throughout his life and was an excellent student in the Bible Study and Sunday Schools. Previously one of the favorite students of the Sunday School class at his church “The House of Refuge For All People Church” under the teaching of Overseer Fannie Mills who she called Derrick “College Boy”, her smart student. Derrick loved singing! He sung in the Gospel Music Workshop of America (GMWA) in the national youth choir when he was 8 and 9 years old, and in some community choirs and groups. Has traveled and sung across the United States including the Apollo in New York, and various other major concerts and events. He was a member of Jordan Bible
Church, Temple of Compassion, and in 1992 joined House of Refuge For All People Church under the leadership of Apostle John W. Mills. He’s sung in the choirs, convention choirs and praise teams of the church and Tabernacle Churches of God. Derrick was known for his passionate singing and his dancing. Praise God!!!!
On the afternoon of Monday, December 5th , 2022, Derrick D. Dunn, age 42, transitioned out of this earthly home into the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was preceded in death by his father, Gregory C. Dunn; parents of father, Gregory C. Dunn; and parents of mother, Trevilla J. Vines (Littlejohn); mother of stepfather, James Vines Jr; uncles Paul Dunn, Leparion and William Littlejohn; aunt, Cheryl Littlejohn; nephew, Jaidan Vines; and cousin, Robert Littlejohn.
Derrick leaves to cherish his memory, parents, James and Trevilla Vines; brothers, Demmion Dunn, Terry (Shaughanassee) Vines and Rayshawn Vines; sisters, Theresa Young, Tina (DaShawn) Murry, Ebony Vines and Starla Owens; grandfather, James E. Vines, Sr and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces; Apostle John W. Mills (Overseer Fannie O. Mills); Pastor Gloria J. Burge, church family, many loved ones and friends.
