Obituary for Deana Mae Walters (Dodson)
Deana Mae Walters went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 3, 2020 in Columbus, OH. Deana was born on November 14, 1931 to George and Mary Dodson, in Delbarton, West Virginia.
She graduated from Liberty High School in Williamson, West Virginia in 1949 where she grew up with her eight siblings. Deana was wedded in holy matrimony to Vernal L. Walters in 1949 and they relocated to Columbus, OH in 1961.
Deana blessed her husband and family as a full-time nurturing homemaker. She also opened her home to her family and community as a full-time Daycare. She was a faithful member of the Pilgrim MBC since 1961. She served faithfully in her church as the musician for the Choir ministry, Kitchen ministry, VBS planning committee, President of the Usher Ministry and Co-chair of the Family Day committee. Deana was a giver who always helped her community especially during times of bereavement. She also served in her community with the PTA, Marion Franklin Booster club and March of Dimes. Most of all she was known for her delicious cakes, potato salad and anything else she cooked.
She leaves to cherish her memories… Her children; Larry L. (Lydia) of NV, Ronald T. (Vicky) of OH, Darnell R. Calhoun (Ron) of OH, Donald E. (Joan) of CA, Sharon P. Saulsby of FL, Brent L. (Jessica) of OH, Terry L. of OH, Mark A. of OH, Dwight A. of OH, Annetta L. Randolph (Kevin) of OH, and Darryl of OH. 33 Grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. Her Siblings; Jean Robinson and Chiquilla Polain. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and special friends.
She is predeceased by… Her husband; Vernal L. Walters, Her Son, George E. Walters, Her Siblings; Elsie Dodson, Leroy Dodson, Paul Dotson, Pannell Dotson and Manuel Dotson, Bernice Morrison and Alfred Dodson.
Service will be at the Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church on Friday, February 14, 2020 at 11 am, Viewing at 10 am. Internment at Kingwood Memorial Park and the Repast will be at Pilgrim MBC. Caliman Funeral Services are in charge.
