Obituary for Cordelia White-Gee

Cordelia was born on June 15, 1934 in Chatham, Virginia, she was the eleventh child out of twelve born to Timothy and Melvin Davis (both deceased). Cordelia passed away surrounded by family on October 5, 2020 at the age of 86.
Cordelia attended graduated from Gretna High School. During her youth, she enjoyed singing with her sisters at Rose Bud Church, acted in school plays and loved playing on the girls’ basketball team. She spoke often on how she enjoyed making her own dresses and dressing up with her sisters Geneva and Virginia. Cordelia also did her share of hard work, from pulling tobacco, picking walnuts to slaughtering pigs. Her family loved hearing stories about her life growing up in Virginia with her siblings and sharing fond memories of her Dad. Cordelia’s Mother passed away when she was only 8 years old.
Cordelia moved from Virginia to the big city, Washington D.C., and then onto Columbus, Ohio in 1956. She married her soulmate Willie, after a long courtship, they maintained their relationship for more than 54 years.
She joined St. Dominic’s Catholic Church where she was an active member. In the late 90’s, Cordelia joined Gospel Lighthouse where she was a devoted member for more than 15 years, with Dr. Fryar’s blessing’s, she later joined RHEMA Christian Center where she was a member until her untimely death. Cordelia was a strong believer in Christ, and was led by the Holy Spirit, she entrusted her whole being in Him. For years, she set – aside one hour every day to converse with Jesus and read His word; she did not allow for interruptions during her quite time with the Father.
Cordelia was a very loving, yet stern, Mother to nine children who adored her as their Mother, and best friend. She was a dedicated employee for such companies as Western Electric, Eddie Bauer and Safellite; winning several Employee of the Year awards. She retired due to a physical job injury at the age of 76.
Cordelia is survived by her husband Willie Herman Gee, She is preceded in death by her Son, Anthony White, her Parents and ten siblings. She leaves to cherish her memory, a Sister Geneva Tarpley, Sons James, Michael, Wayne, John and Timmy (Jackie), her daughters, Deborah (Lance) Muhammad, Abigail, and Vanessa Norris. Grandchildren Donald (Shirley) Williams, Carla (Rayquan) Bennett, Bryan (Heather) White, Charles (Krystal) Mitchell, Quan White, Jaleese White, Jasmine White, Caleb White and a special grandson Noah Thompson. She leaves a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
