Received into the Kingdom
Reverend Clarence “CW” Moody
Sunrise: April 20th, 1940
Sunset: March 11th, 2020
Clarence Moody, affectionately known as CW, was born on April 20th, 1940 in Institute, West Virginia to Clarence and Nancy Moody.
Clarence graduated from Columbus East High School in 1958. On February 2nd, 1958, he joined the United States Army. He went on to serve as a Para Trooper in the 82nd and the 173rd Airborne Divisions of the Army. During his career in the United States Military, Clarence toured in the Netherlands, Vietnam and in Fort Kobbe, Panama, in the Company D 34th Armor. He received an Honorable Discharge on January 28th, 1961.
Clarence was the first African American dispatcher for the Columbus Coat of Fabrics and the first African American Cota Bus Driver.
After 27 years of service, CW retired from Len Immke Buick in 2015, where he was known as the “Praying Car Salesman!”
CW was a true food connoisseur and loved to eat. He could make even a hot dog sound like steak and potatoes! CW was very stylish and took pride in looking sharp and smelling good. He especially loved his hats, suits and handkerchiefs. CW coined the phrase “Don’t let cheapness be your weakness!”
CW’s personality was larger than life! He loved all different styles of music, singing, dancing, and laughing and enjoying life with his family and loved ones. He loved telling stories, and there was a lesson in every story he told. He was a listener and giver of advice to all, and always gave words of encouragement. He never met a stranger, and had the gift of ministering to everyone, especially those in need. CW always told the hard truth, even if it wasn’t what you wanted to hear! But he always spoke out of love.
On October 1st, 1982, CW answered to the Call of Ministry, where he became an Ordained Elder in the House of the Lord. He received his Ministerial Degree from the Cincinnati Bible College. He was a one of a kind General in God’s Army!
Reverend CW loved studying and reading the Word. Occasionally, he would host an intimate Bible Study with family on Sundays after dinner. He devoted his life to introducing and leading others to Jesus Christ and teaching the Word of God.
Reverend CW Moody was a member of Temple of Faith COGIC, where he was a great asset to the House of God, and a true warrior in the Army of the Lord. He loved serving in his Church. A few of his many endeavors and contributions to the Church include initiating the Sunday morning breakfast, helping with the acquisition of the house for the Roger J. Hairston Food Pantry, assisting with the Church’s courtyard sign, and serving the community through volunteering for the Pantry.
Reverend CW Moody is preceded in death by his Father Clarence Moody, Stepfather Richard Willis, and Mother Nancy Willis.
Reverend CW Moody leaves to continue his Legacy: Wife, Michelle L. Moody; his brothers Charles Moody, Richard (Carol) Moody of Phoenix, Arizona, Ronald Willis; Daughter Carla (Bernard) Moody-Wright of Los Angeles, California; Sons Clarence R. (Dana) Moody of Las Vegas, Nevada; Kevin Elizondo; and Daughter Hannah Yemiah Moody; ten grandchildren, three great grandchildren and a host of many other family members and friends.
Visitation will begin at 12:30 pm on Saturday March 21st, 2020 at Temple of Faith Church of God in Christ: 1441 Brentnell Avenue Columbus, Ohio 43219. Bishop Roger J. Hairston Officiating. Family will receive friends from 12:30 pm until 1:00pm, time of service.
The family affectionately gives thanks to Bishop Roger J. Hairston, First Lady Sonya Hairston and Temple of Faith Church of God in Christ, and to all those who have extended their love, prayers, condolences and contributions. Our Hearts are filled with humility and appreciation for those who have brought comfort to us during our recent sadness. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. 5 For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ. 2 Corinthians 1:3-5

Dad you will be missed. You always had a prayer and words of wisdom for whatever the need may have been. I will always cherish our talks and your favorite phrase “ I have an addendum” 😊
Heaven has received a preacher and a true man of God.
Love always your favorite.... Mona
