Clarence W. Davis, age 86, of Columbus, Ohio, went home to be with Jesus on July 5 th , 2022, at Mt. Carmel East Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. He was born March 29 th , 1936, to Clarence and Gladys Davis in Jenkinjones, West Virginia. He is preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Gracie Davis, Dora Anderson, Maxine Ivory, Frances Lynch, and brother Henri “Boot” Davis.

Clarence served as a proud marine from 1953 to when he was honorably discharged in 1962, and eventually began a career in sheet metal as a welder, working for The Limbach Company for many years before becoming the Coordinator of the J.A.T.C. (Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee) for Sheet Metal Workers International Association Local Union #98, sharing his knowledge with many, many students before retiring in 1997. Among his many accomplishments was being a 50+ year continuous member of good standing in the International Association of Sheet Metal, Air, Rail, and Transportation Workers Local Union #24, serving on the Columbus City Schools Neighborhood Schools Development
Partnership, and 15+ years of service on the State of Ohio Apprenticeship Council in which he served 10 years as Chairman. In 2006, State of Ohio Governor Bob Taft awarded Clarence with a certificate acknowledging his dedication and exemplary service on the State of Ohio Apprenticeship Council.

Clarence was a long-time member of St. Mark’s Lodge #7, in which he served as Worshipful Master in 1982 and was also a lead member of the funeral team. He was very proficient in the funeral ritual, and proudly led a team that funeralized over 100 Masons in the last 30 years. He was a member of Johnson Chapter #3, a member of L.D. Easton Consistory #21, and served as an advisor to the State of Ohio Pythagorean Youth Organization. He was a mentor, friend and advisor to many throughout the years with his work in the lodge and was affectionately known as “Cowboy” by his fellow lodge brothers.

Clarence loved to fish and hunt and was an avid gardener and landscaper (he had one of the best yards in the neighborhood). He also loved to bowl and was in at least two leagues every year including last season. His biggest bowling accomplishment was bowling a perfect game of 300 in 2016 at the young age of 80.

Clarence leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 65 years Ellener Davis, son Clarence (Frances) Davis, daughter Jennifer (Charles) Cruikshank, granddaughter Aubry (Andrew) Michael, brother Herbert “Gene” Davis, sister Rita Mattox, brother Willie “Leroy” Davis, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends, including his fishing buddy Jim Ricketts.
