Obituary for Barbara Jean Pierson (Pierson)

Barbara Jean Jones Pierson was born in Columbus, Ohio, on February 1, 1940, to Rufus Hayes Jones and Hazel Helen Jones Pierce. She graduated from St. Aloysius Elementary School and St. Mary of the Springs High School, currently Ohio Dominican. She entered the convent, but left there and later, the Catholic Church. She soon entered the WACS, where she met and married Donald Clark, and had six children as a result of the marriage. Barbara attended Ohio Dominican, and Franklin University where she received an Associate Degree in Business Administration. At Liberty University Theological Seminary she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Religion and Psychology, a Master’s Degree in Christian Ministry – Global Studies, and a PHD in Theology. She was employed by the U.S. Post Office, IBM for 18 years, DYS and ODJFS for the State of Ohio for 14 years, and Administration Manager for the year 2000 Census Bureau.

Her life was completed when she was licensed to preach on June 11, 2011 at Christ Centered Missionary Baptist Church, and was to be ordained upon graduating in December 2014. Barbara delighted in serving the Lord, and she was happy to evangelize and help plant several churches, including New Genesis, St. Phillips Community Baptist, and New Fellowship. In the 80’s, at Mt. Olivet she sang in four choirs, was active in the Rose of Sharon Missions, and the Matrons Circle. She played organ and piano for various churches, taught Bible School and Sunday School, among numerous other activities.

Minister Pierson leaves to cherish her memory, daughters Donna Jean Green, and Lisa Dianne Clark, step-daughter, Dawn Clark, sons Donald Ricardo Clark, Donald David Clark (Keri), grandsons Rayshawn, Darren, Shane, and Brandon Clark, Zion; Harold Clark and James Green (Shannon); granddaughters Danyelle Spencer Clark (Larry), Lauren, Janelle, and Janay Clark, and 4 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunt, cousins, friends, and a church family that she loved beyond belief at Christ Centered, and some very special loved ones at Mt. Olivet, special school friends Ellen O’Shaughnessy and Carol Caplinger. Preceded in death by father, Rufus Hayes Jones, and mother, Hazel Helen Jones Pierce, son Donald Anthony Clark, and daughter Tanya Elaine Clark, beloved aunt, Ethel Ayers, cousin Fred Ayers, sisters JoAnn Jones and Nellie (Charles) Ridley, and brother Rufus Jones, Jr, and special mother-in-law, Nancy Lee Long (Columbus).
