Obituary for Barbara Hope Booker (Ware)

Barbara Hope Booker age 85 peacefully transitioned from labor to reward on October 23, 2022 at Whetstone Care Center, Columbus Ohio. Barbara was born July 19, 1937 in Dayton Ohio to John Hope and Elizabeth (Boyd) Ware. As a young girl, she worked in the family’s business “Ware’s Shoe Repair”. She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age while attending the Hill Street Church of God, Urbana, Ohio. Barbara enjoyed traveling to district Sunday School and Youth Fellowship meetings with her mother. Barbara graduated from Urbana High School in 1955 and began working at Grimes Manufacturing.

On June 16, 1956 Barbara was united in holy matrimony to Robert Westley Booker. Their union was blessed with two children, Robert Westley Jr, and Elizabeth Kay. Barbara and Robert soon moved to Columbus, Ohio where she began working for Lazarus Department store and advanced to Sales Manager where she retired after 20 years.

In her early years, Barbara worshiped and sang in the choir at Sigsbee Ave Church of God, and West Fourth Ave Church of God. Barbara was a great seamstress and made garments for her family and friends some of which she and her friends modeled. Barbara was a faithful member of First Church of God for over 40 years serving with the Usher Ministry while traveling to many National Usher Conventions of the Church of God. Barbara cherished her family and looked forward to the gatherings of the Ware-Boyd-Route-Mosley family.

Her parents, John and Elizabeth Ware; brother, John V. Ware; and sister-in-law, Barbara Ware preceded her death. She is survived by her husband, Robert W. Booker Sr.; children, Robert (Cheryl) Booker Jr. and Elizabeth (Randal) Gaddis I; sister-in-law, Joan Ware; brothers, Jan Gilbert Ware and Alan H. (Antoinette) Ware; sister-in-law, Nancy (Nathanial) Robinson; grandchildren, Rachel (Rob) Banville, Randal (Kristy) Gaddis II, Westley (Lydia) Gaddis, Curtis Gaddis and
Matthew (Stefanie) Gaddis; great grandchildren, Robert Banville Jr., Ezra James, Titus Alexander, Weston Kenneth, Aida Elizabeth, Madison Michelle, Morgan Michelle, Malia Michelle, William Charles, Alexander Gideon and Charlotte Mary Alice Gaddis; special daughters, Sylvia and Alethea Gaddis; life-long friends, Gene and Jayne Harris; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
