Obituary

Balisia Lea Blanchard was born on July 21, 1968 in Springfield, Ohio where she was born and raised and affectionately known as Puff. She arrived at her final heavenly destination on October 24, 2020. Balisia was met by her parents James & Reva Blanchard and also greeted by her sister Sherry Tate-Dalton and two brothers Ricardo Tate and Theodore Holland.

Balisia leaves behind to carry on her legacy two daughters, Neyasha and Dysigha Blachard of Columbus, Ohio; son, DeAngelo Blanchard of New York, NY; special niece, Daniea Leinasars; granddaughter Kaleena Blanchard of Columbus, Ohio; three sisters, LaVerne (Archie) Fudge-Williamson of New Albany, Ohio; Regina Scott of Tampa, FL; Vanita (Tom) Gathers of Walnut, California; brother, Michael Holland of Canton, Ohio; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Balisia moved to Columbus, Ohio in 1997 to forge a better life for herself and her children. She was fortunate to find several different long standing jobs and even ventured back to school to receive a certification in nonprofit management. Outside of work, she enjoyed renovating her home, counsulating with various institutions, and spending time with her grandchild.

In recent years, Balisia enjoyed her job as a Case Manager in the Collaborative Efforts Unit with The Department of Job and Family Services. She was very easily a phone call away and known to be an advisor to her niece, nephews, and the like. She kept the Word close to her spirit and loved Jesus Christ.

Though she may not be with us on Earth, she has found rest in the court of heaven. As she was a firm believer in the Lord and His greatness, we must accept that her work among us has finished and she has been called home to be with God. Her love is etched in our hearts and her memory printed indelibly on our brains. Mom, Grandmother, Puff, Aunty, Cousin, Sister, and Friend, your love has not left us, your wisdom was not in vain, and in the words of her mother, this is not goodbye, it is “we’ll see you later”!

    Notes
PLEASE READ BEFORE VISITATION... During this time of the pandemic, we understand the complexities of wanting to honor your loved one and allowing friends and relatives to show their support. While it is important to us to honor the request of a family, we must also adhere to State of Ohio mandates when it comes to public and private gatherings. The protocols Caliman Funeral Services have put in place will make it not only manageable but still allow for visitation services to be meaningful. To give those who wish to visit with the family and view their loved one we allow no more than twenty guests at a time to process into the facility. This is to sign the register book, state your condolences to the family, view your loved one and exit the building. It is our goal to make this less stressful for family and friends, maintain the integrity and honoring the family during a difficult time, and being in compliance concerning the mandates of the State of Ohio. Thank you for your understanding and patience. Caliman Funeral Services

Balisia was a not just a member/employee of my crew, she was a mother hen and like the 2nd boss in command of my unit. She was a super alpha woman and we absolutely loved that about her. She was comic relief during serious times at work and this has taken the wind out of my crew at work. Praying for the family and friends that will miss her during the upcoming holiday season like we will at JFS. You will be missed B.

Balisia (Puff) was such a wonderful person to many of us. She always brought laughter and fun. My children and myself are so saddened when we found out. Even though we know she's gone from this world we smile realizing her love for Jesus has given her the most beautiful home. We send our love and prayers to all of the family.

I lost my sister and I will truly miss her. I will miss her no nonsense attitude, her tell it like it is attitude, her love you like no other attitude, her sensitive heart, our mad at you moments, our complain about our young adult moments, her laughs and jokes, and our sister talks. I never imagined I would loose her so young but you never know what tomorrow holds. I will miss those phone calls with her saying, “what’s the word bird”. I rejoice in knowing she loved the Lord and is with our mom now. I can see mom stretching her arms out and welcoming her home. My heart is truly broken and I will miss her everyday. I love you Puff n Stuff. Until we meet again. 😘😘😘😢😢😢
